RFA Alert: Critical Processor Vulnerabilities Identified
The Meltdown vulnerability exploits a design flaw with processors that allows a specifically crafted program to access data from other programs running on the same machine. This vulnerability could be exploited to allow unauthorized programs to read “protected” memory, which can potentially contain sensitive information.
The Spectre vulnerability functions by deploying a “victim application” which performs abnormal code execution and leaks confidential information from the machine via a side channel.
Researchers are currently working on identifying mitigation steps, RFA will reach out to our clients to schedule maintenance once patches or workarounds are released and tested for performance impact.
